Workers in NY and WV Organize with CWA
Local 1106 won an NLRB supervised election to represent 63 technicians at Dish Network in Queens, NY today. The vote was 34 to 24. The workers overcame a very strong anti union campaign including the usual captive audience meetings, and a promise of a $2.50 per hour raise to vote no. Dish also (illegally) conducted some captive audience meetings less than 24 hrs before the election.
A strong and public inside organizing committee held the group together. We had 34 assessed as Yes voters, and that is what we got. Vice President Jerry Bulzomi worked on the campaign as did Local 1106 President Tony Caudullo.
