MA Workers Join IUE-CWA

IUE/CWA Local 81201 won an NLRB-supervised election yesterday to represent 60 Budget Rental car workers in Boston, MA. The vote was 33-17 with one challenged ballot. 

The election victory was possible thanks to a strong internal committee of 6 people, which resulted in a majority of workers publicly supporting the union.  

Management's anti union campaign was thrwarted at every turn. Budget had to cut short their many captive audience meetings because the Organizing Committee kept taking them over.  

Organizer Sheila McGuillicuddy worked on the campaign, and was helped by Local 81201 President Jeff Crosby, Mark Whelton from the Local's Organizing committee, and Avis Chief Steward Jorge Rivera.
