CWA Frontier Bargaining Report # 40
CWA – Frontier Contract Negotiations
Bargaining Report # 40
January 21, 2009
The Union and Company resumed negotiations today, Wednesday, 01/21/09.
The first 2 Union counters presented to the Company contained modifications to improve the compensation in their proposed, new Wage Team Performance Incentives Article for non-commissioned employees, (outside technicians), and Customer Service Representatives in the Wilkes-Barre Call Center.
The Union's 3rd counter pertained to the Company's proposed, new Work-at-Home Article. A lengthy discussion and debate ensued on this subject, with each party highlighting their respective perspectives. The Company wants to use employees' homes as office space and their utilities for free, as well as unilaterally decide who would get to participate, how many, and regardless of seniority. Members would relinquish their right to arbitrate those decisions. The Union has not agreed to this program anywhere in Frontier's service area.
The parties agreed to extend the contract until 11:59 PM on Friday, 01/23/09.
There being no further, joint business for the day, the parties adjourned.
The Bargaining Committees plan to resume negotiations on Thursday, 01/22/09.
